The Best CCW Pistol

Were you expecting to see a Glock 19 pictured as the best CCW pistol, rather than a Springfiled XD Compact?  If so, you may have been a victim of Glock fanboy propaganda.

What’s Glock fanboy propaganda?

If you are new to the firearms industry, you may not know that it can be extremely brand loyal.  Leading the way in their devotion to a single company are the Glock fanboys.  These guys think that the only pistol to have is a Glock and no others will do the job.  But don’t be fooled, there are other fanboy clubs out there devoted to Sig Sauer, Smith & Wesson, Kimber, Colt, and others.

In order to choose the best CCW pistol for your situation, you must shake the fanboy propaganda.

The Best CCW Pistol – Must Have A Safety

Glocks don’t have safeties and in my opinion “internal safeties” and “trigger safeties” are not real safeties.  The point of a safety is to have a second physical layer of security in the event that you should make an error with your firearm.  That is, a physical fail safe to prevent the firearm from firing when you did not intend it to.

If you would like to find out more about layers of security for your CCW, sign up for my free guide, “Why – The Best CCW Pistol.”

Here are my picks for The Best CCW Pistol:

1. Springfield XD Compact

Springfield XD Compact

The Springfiled XD Compact is compact for conceal-ability, durable, deadly accurate, and comes standard with a grip safety.

All of these features combined make it the Best CCW Pistol for appendix carry CCW holders.

The Springfield XD Compact is priced at $449.99 at Bass Pro.

2. S&W M&P Shield EZ

If you are turned off by the chunky design of the Springfield XD’s slide, then the Shield EZ may be the Best CCW Pistol for you.

The Shield EZ looks nice and it has both a grip safety and a thumb safety.  The grip safety allows for a fast draw speed and the thumb safety add an additional layer of security for those more concerned with safety.

3. Glock 19

If your preferred method of carry is on-the-hip carry, then it’s hard to beat the Glock 19.

Glocks do not have a safety.  Yes, they have “internal” and “trigger” safeties, but these are not real safeties in my opinion.

Carrying your CCW on your hip mitigates some of the dangers of carrying a CCW without a manual safety.  So, for this reason the Glock 19 makes the list.

As with any CCW, you must train diligently to improve your skills and CCW safety.

The Glock 19 is priced at $569.00 at Bass Pro.

4. Springfield Hellcat

The Hellcat is a fairly new pistol from Springfield that is getting rave reviews.  It has good looks and a great design.  This one comes with a manual safety, which causes it to make the list.

The Hellcat is priced at $579.99 at Bass Pro.
